Press Release N°4
Saturday 10 March 2007

The Somali people and the international community has been watching and witnessing the horrific and historic tragedy the Somali people have been going through lately. Ethiopia and USA have waged a calculated and successful proxy war on Somalia on baseless war-on-terror grounds. The USA doesn’t want the restoration of Somalia statehood while Ethiopia’s dream is only to create unstable, anarchic and weak client enclave states. They are both responsible for the collapse of public order and security that has been present just before their invasion. This foreign occupation has brought gross human rights violation, the loss of lives by murdering thousands of innocent lives, secret executions, and extermination, looting of private property, imprisonment, and raping of women.
The indiscriminate killing and shelling of innocent civilians, the mass displacement of entire communities, the imposed marshal law, the disregard for human rights, the violations of the territorial integrity and the sovereignty of the Somali Republic has all culminated into Ethiopia’s strategy of frustrating Somali people’s dream to restore peace and stability.
Ethiopia has carefully planned the failure of all the previously attempted peace and reconciliation efforts of Somalia because it doesn’t want a unified peaceful and prosperous Somalia. In fact, Ethiopia’s war is to get access to sea port by creating client city states in Somalia which will eventually be annexed to Ethiopia.
The current Transitional Federal Government has succumbed to the mercy of the arch-enemy of Somalia which has historically taken part in the partition of Somalia during the “scramble of Africa” and hence has tarnished TFG’s image and rendered it irrelevant. The TFG leadership has gone into the history as the pawns and puppets of an Ethiopian regime that is burying hopes of reviving Somali state. It also violated the human rights of its own people, terrorized women and children and undermined most of the independent news media in Africa. Therefore, we call upon the free and peace loving countries in the world to take immediate action to restore the Somali state and restore peace and dignity to the people of Somalia by demanding the following steps:
• The immediate withdrawal of the Ethiopian forces from Somalia without any conditions,
• The cessation of bombardments and naval blockade of the Somali coastline by the United States government to avoid starvation, and stop using Africans against Africans,
• Facilitation of a reconciliation conference among Somali political groups without interference of frontline states,
• We strongly demand that Ethiopia abandon its policy of micro-managing Somali regions and rather concentrate on building bridges between our countries where both people’s major security and stability issue of extreme poverty is the real threat in the horn of Africa,
• We, Somali-Canadians, strongly demand from our Canadian government to play an active role in Somalia’s worsening situation before genocide happens and takes a leading role in finding a just solution to the Somali crisis.`
